News

Before we start: in case you haven’t registered yet, now’s a good time.

First of all: there’s only one rule. Don’t sell whatever it is you sell the rest of the week – you’re here to share your knowledge.

That said, there are a few practical things that you might want to keep in mind to make sure this coming BizCamp Belgium 2010 is sane (yet still fun) for all:

Kicking off

Aim to be there 9 – 9:30 ish so you can grab a coffee, say Hi to friends, let us know if you want to present, and generally wake up. If you would like to help out, aim to be there 8:45ish. We’ll start presentations at 10 sharp.

Speaking of presentations…

You’ll have 20 minutes + 5 minutes Q&A time. Please pace your presentations accordingly – we will interrupt you in mid-slide if your time is up! Check out some of the examples from the 1st edition on slideshare

Food

Yes, there’s free lunch! There’s also free breakfast and a free afternoon snack. Incredible as it sounds, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors we can provide all of those to you! There’s also free coffee (we remember from the last time, BizCamp runs on coffee) and free soft drinks (special thanks to SAP and Tim! ).

Room temperature and – related – dress code

Last time we needed heating and didn’t have it; this time we’ll need airco – and we’ll have it! Speaking of which… T-shirts are there (yep, also free!) and we will insist that you wear them. Makes for very nice group photos.

Helping out

We have a whole list of chores for ya. Greeting people at the front desk, keeping time during presentations, twittering like a man (woman) possessed, a bit of light moving of furniture around, etc. etc. So: don’t hesitate to volunteer – and preferably do it now by email (leo [dot] exter [at] westartup [dot] eu) so we know that we can count on you. You can also volunteer on the day.

Another way to help out is to create buzz around bizcamp: before, during and after the event. Is your sister head of a TV-station? Do you have a blog with millions of readers? Or are you but a mere mortal? Help us visualise bizcamp by twittering, blogging, inviting friends to register, etc.

Equipment

  • We’ve got beamers, and we’ve got sound. We’ll even have free WiFi (may be unavailable for some mobile devices, so to be sure bring along your netbooks, laptops, slate devices, etc.).
  • We’ll need some PCs to show presentations – so if you’re planning to present it might be a good idea to bring one.
  • If you need a Mac to present, you might want to make double-sure to bring it. And, don’t forget the white thingie you need to connect to a VGA cable.
  • Plenty of plugs to go around – but do bring your own cables.
  • If you have a spare presentation pointer please do bring along – and we’d appreciate if you shared it with others!
  • If you’ve got a printer you can bring along, please contact the organizers (leo [dot] exter [at] westartup [dot] eu).

That’s about it – we’re looking forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Thomas: thank you for committing to deliver the printer!

For equipment, we could still use a few laptops (remember, VGA plug compatible).

Other things: all amateur, semi-professional, and professional photographers and videographers are welcome!

Update: we have one computer (PC) and one presentation pointer available.

Still need at least two more computers – and a few more presentation pointers.
